Vijaya Ekadashi is an auspicious and worshipping day of Lord Vishnu for the Hindu religion. It is celebrated during Krishna Paksha in the month of Phagun. This Ekadashi is very beneficial for devotees to get success and win (Vijaya) in any work.

All your bad deeds are forgiven by Lord Vishnu by keeping fast on Vijaya Ekadashi. In Hinduism, fasting is considered one of the most important religious acts. It is also the festival of rejoicing in the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana.

What is Vijaya Ekadashi?

Vijay Ekadashi is one of the 24 Ekadashis celebrated every year in Hinduism. It is the 11th lunar day of the Krishna Paksha on which devotees worship Lord Vishnu and keep fast to win and get success in their work.

Narad Muni was the first one who got to know about Vijaya Ekadashi by Lord Brahma. He told Narad Muni about the fasting and worshipping rituals that should be followed on this day. Lord Brahma said: “All your sins will be washed away if you keep fast on Vijay Ekadashi.”

In Treta Yug, when Lord Rama wanted to cross the great ocean to save Sita from Ravana, he went to a sage to get a solution. The sage told him about Vijaya Ekadashi and its importance. After keeping the vrat, Lord Rama easily crossed the ocean with his army and won the war.

How to observe the vrat:

  1. Bath early in the morning and clean the puja mandir situated in your home.
  2. Worship Lord Vishnu by chanting Vishnu Sahastranam and Gayatri Mantra 108 times.
  3. Keep dhoop, coconut and diya in front of the Lord Vishnu idol and worship them with purity.
  4. People who keep fast on this Ekadashi do not eat anything for the whole day and break their fast on the next day (Dwadashi).
  5. Doing kirtan or jagran on Vijay Ekadashi is very beneficial for devotees who keep the vrat.
  6. On the next day, devotees offer prasad to Lord Vishnu and then to a Brahmin. After offering food to the Brahmin, devotees break their fast by eating food.
