A Day To Motivate Yourself
Papmochani Ekadashi gives you freedom from all sins and motivates an individual to avoid such sins. It is one of the most auspicious Ekadashis; the one who completes it with all the proper fasting will be successful in their life.
Papmochani Ekadashi is the last Ekadashi of the entire 24 Ekadashis in the Hindu calendar. It comes at the celebration of Holi and Chaitra Navratri. People believe that whoever fasts on this day gets freedom from all their sins.
“Papa” states sins and “mochan” states to release yourself from all the sins. So, this fast helps in releasing you from all your previous sins.
Papmochani Ekadashi falls in the bright fortnight of Chaitra month. In 2022, the date was March 28. This Ekadashi celebrates the redemption of sins by fasting. Papmochani Ekadashi is an auspicious day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It falls on the 11th day in the Hindu month of Chaitra.
Papmochani Ekadashi is a double vrat observed by worshipping Kamalaja/Mango tree, water and Tulsi plants for spiritual progress. It has great significance for Lord Vishnu devotees. On this day, Lord Vishnu took Kshirsagar Manthan Avatar, and so this day is also known as Kshirsagar Manthan Dwadashi or Maha Dwadashi.
Venerated by Hindu devotees, this traditional lunar calendar is reproduced on a paper scroll for the entire year. It features auspicious dates to travel, work on your home, or do any good deeds. The wall hanging comes in a protective plastic casing and a frame ready for wall mounting or display on a table or desk.
The first and foremost thing a devotee should do is take a bath with sesame seed or with kush. Keeping a fast is completely up to an individual choice.
But as per the saying, it is believed that if you take a fast on this day, all your previous sins get eliminated. There are also various modes in which you can take fast such as:
On this devotional day, one should worship Lord Vishnu and pray to the Lord and make a wish for fulfilling all your dreams. When you visit the temple, you should shower Tulsi leaves, fruits, flowers and also an essence stick to Lord Vishnu. You can also offer mogra and jasmine to the Lord, which is highly peaceful to Lord Vishnu.
At times, devotees are not able to fast. In such cases, they can eat food by avoiding food such as rice, pulse and non-veg food. All devotees should also read “Sri Vishnu Sahasranama”.
All the devotees should visit the temple of Lord Vishnu in the evening, because prayers such as kirtan and bhajan take place majorly at evening time. You can also organise the ceremony at your home.
