What is Papmochani Ekadashi?

Papmochani Ekadashi is the last Ekadashi of the entire 24 Ekadashis in the Hindu calendar. It comes at the celebration of Holi and Chaitra Navratri. People believe that whoever fasts on this day gets freedom from all their sins.

“Papa” states sins and “mochan” states to release yourself from all the sins. So, this fast helps in releasing you from all your previous sins.

Papmochani Ekadashi falls in the bright fortnight of Chaitra month. In 2022, the date was March 28. This Ekadashi celebrates the redemption of sins by fasting. Papmochani Ekadashi is an auspicious day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It falls on the 11th day in the Hindu month of Chaitra.

Papmochani Ekadashi is a double vrat observed by worshipping Kamalaja/Mango tree, water and Tulsi plants for spiritual progress. It has great significance for Lord Vishnu devotees. On this day, Lord Vishnu took Kshirsagar Manthan Avatar, and so this day is also known as Kshirsagar Manthan Dwadashi or Maha Dwadashi.

Venerated by Hindu devotees, this traditional lunar calendar is reproduced on a paper scroll for the entire year. It features auspicious dates to travel, work on your home, or do any good deeds. The wall hanging comes in a protective plastic casing and a frame ready for wall mounting or display on a table or desk.
