Padmini Ekadashi
The Auspicious Ekadashi of Adhik Maas
In the Hindu calendar, Ekadashi is the 11th day of the Lunar fortnight.
Because there are two Lunar fortnights — one when the Moon waxes and
another when it wanes — there are generally 24 Ekadashis per year.
Whenever a Hindu year includes a leap year, two additional Ekadashis are
added to the list.
Adhik/Purushottam or Mala Maas is the
name given to the leap month. According to the Lunar calendar, the Hindu
year does have the Adhik Maas; hence there must be 26 Ekadashis.
According to Hinduism, the day is devoted to Lord Vishnu,
the Universe's Nurturer. We're going to tell you much more about this day
now. If you're fasting or don't know anything about the occasion, scroll

What is Padmini Ekadashi?
According to the Padmini Ekadashi Vrat Story, fasting on Padmini Ekadashi
with devotion might grant you Lord Vishnu's blessings and grant your wish.
According to legend, during the Treta Yuga, a monarch named
Krit Virya was beloved by his people and possessed
everything but a child.
The monarch and his Rani, Padmini, went to a jungle and
practiced austerities for several years in the hopes of finding a successor.
In the jungle, she met Devi Anasuya one day, who requested
that the queen fast on the Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha of the
Mala Maas, to be bestowed with such a baby.
Padmini Ekadashi falls on the Ekadashi Tithi, which corresponds to
the 11th day of the Shukla Paksha during the Purushottam Masam
(13th or the leap month in the Hindu calendar). Padmini Ekadashi is
significant because it comes just once every 30 months.
This Ekadashi is dedicated to the queen of the Treta Yuga, king Krit Virya
of Mahishmati. None other than Shri Krishna himself told
Pandava King Yudhishthira the narrative of this Ekadashi vrat.
